Congressmen Recognized for Efforts in Science Advocacy

SfN coalition partner Research!America jointly presented Reps. Frank Wolf (R-VA) and Chaka Fattah (D-PA) with the Edwin C. Whitehead Award for Medical Research Advocacy at their 25th anniversary commemoration on March 12. The Congressmen were recognized for their ongoing, bi-partisan, support of both federal and private funding of innovation and discovery in the scientific community. 

Congressman Fattah further singled out neuroscience and the importance of international and domestic cooperation in his remarks following the receipt of the award, noting recent efforts to coordinate work between the European Union’s Human Brain Project and the United States’ BRAIN Initiative. This international cooperation signals a new level of scientific collaboration on brain research.
