Advocacy Training Seminars
SfN offers customized in-person advocacy training seminars on the best ways to begin and strengthen their efforts as a #NeuroAdvocate. Applications for sessions are evaluated by staff and volunteer leadership to determine the reach and impact of the event as well as its alignment with strategic priorities.
About the Program
Advocacy training seminars reveal the frameworks and best practices for being an effective advocate for neuroscience and science policy. Attendees gain the necessary skills to work with their communities and policymakers to advance neuroscience research and discovery as well as encourage others to join the conversation.
Sessions consists of a two- or four-hour training at your institution, chapter, or organization with a member of the SfN advocacy team. The two-hour training covers all the tips and tricks for being a successful #NeuroAdvocate, while the four-hour training incorporates more hands-on activities for participants to deepen their involvement with advocacy.
If you are unable to hold a session or if in-person opportunities fill up in a given year, SfN also offers an online advocacy training video series that provides foundational information on the topics and themes found in the in-person training.
Apply for your institution or organization to be considered for customized in-person training today! Applications are very competitive, with limited trainings offered annually. After you submit your request, a member of the SfN Advocacy Team will be in touch with you. Email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
