Adam Elliott from Piscataway, New Jersey: Champion of 2014 U.S. Brain Bee
The Brain Bee is a neuroscience competition for secondary school students that aims to motivate them to learn about the brain, capture their imaginations, and inspire them to pursue careers in biomedical research. Students compete locally, feeding into national and then international competition. Norbert Myslinski of the University of Maryland is the founder and president.
The 2014 U.S. Brain Bee was held March 14-15 in Baltimore. After two days of intense competition, Adam Elliott, a sophomore at Matawan-Aberdeen Regional High School in Piscataway, NJ, was named the winner. Adam won a summer internship at a neuroscience lab, sponsored by SfN. He will represent the U.S. at the 2014 International Brain Bee Championship this August in Washington, DC.
