Janet McDermott
Dr. McDermott received a BS and MS from Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago and a MS from University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana. She received her MD degree from Loyola Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, IL in 1982. Following an internship at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Janet served as a Lieutenant Commander in the Public Health Service System for three years. She completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Illinois followed by Geriatrics Fellowships at the University of Illinois and at Case Western/University Hospitals in Cleveland, OH. She was an Attending Physician at Edwin Shaw Hospital in Akron, OH and Assistant Research Professor at the Northeast Ohio Medical University in Rootstown, OH.
Dr. McDermott is the author or co-author on over 35 scientific manuscripts and 8 Review/Book chapter scientific articles. She has been awarded both research and clinical research grants fromCase Western University, National Institute of Aging, The Hartford Foundation and Edwin Shaw Hospital.
Janet is survived by her husband and friend of 35 years, Dean Dluzen.
