Faculty for Undergraduate Neuroscience (FUN) is the international society devoted to neuroscience education and research at the undergraduate level. FUN faculty train the neuroscientists of tomorrow. . . today!
Since 1992, FUN has sponsored travel awards to allow undergraduate researchers to attend the annual Society for Neuroscience (SFN) meeting. Undergraduates are encouraged to present their work at the FUN poster session held during the SFN meeting.
In recent years, FUN has undertaken a number of initiatives designed to help FUN members, and other neuroscience educators, provide cutting-edge training in neuroscience. Expansion of our society website (funfaculty.org) is critical to accomplishing these goals. Our current projects include: 1) the establishment of the Journal for Undergraduate Neuroscience Education (JUNE), an e-journal devoted to neuroscience instruction and laboratory techniques for use in undergraduate training; 2) the establishment of an honor society for undergraduate neuroscience students; and 3) collaboration with the National Kids Judge! Neuroscience Fairs Partnership to promote innovative learning experiences for undergraduates that also improve neuroscience literacy within our communities. New website features include: web-based voting and polls, e-mail list services, and online databases for membership, equipment, employment, and student research opportunities.
This presentation will help neuroscientists and educators become familiar with resources provided by FUN and allow us to gather input regarding various components of the FUN website.
