SfN advocates and the biomedical research community had success in 2020, with increases to NIH and NSF in the FY 21 appropriations bills for the sixth consecutive year. SfN members played a significant part in legislative efforts, participating in 81 legislative meetings during Hill Day and sending nearly 2,000 messages. SfN acknowledges that measures taken to mitigate the COVID-19 pandemic have made in-person lab tours and other advocacy efforts difficult. Despite this challenge, SfN has worked with advocates to continue their work through new avenues, particularly the NeuroAdvocate Challenge.

Non-U.S. residents may need a visa to enter the United States for Neuroscience 2018. If you already have a U.S. visa, check the expiration date to ensure your visa will not expire before or during your planned travel dates. Citizens of countries meeting the visa waiver criteria do not need a visa to enter the United States. If you are eligible to travel on the Visa Waiver Program, but prefer to have a visa in your passport, you may still apply for a Business (B-1) visa. SfN will also provide support for wireless users. Feel free to browse the web, communicate with your colleagues, or use it for any other internet activity. We expect thousands of attendees to use the system at any given time, so please refrain from using bandwidth-intensive applications (e.g. video and audio streaming, app downloads, transferring large files, etc.) to prevent your wireless speed from slowing to a crawl.
