Recently, a group of undergraduate students launched an online journal intended as an outlet for undergraduate research in the neurosciences. Their efforts have demonstrated that undergraduates are highly motivated to work on publishing and very capable of reviewing and editing papers. This group evolved from a course in the neurosciences (Soc. Neur. Abs. (2002) 28:22.1), and they established an international, undergraduate review board to create an online journal for the publication of original research and review papers by undergraduates. The first stages of the journal's creation were outlined in an earlier report (Soc. Neur. Abs. (2003) 29:25.3). Once the webpage was posted (http://impulse.schc.sc.edu), with submission protocols and processes available, the students emailed programs around the country and the world to invite submissions to the journal.
