AbstractIntroduction: Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is a severe unilateral chronic facial pain disorder with well-documented nerve-level white matter and brain-level gray matter changes. Around 20% of TN patients fail to achieve long-term relief of pain following s...Oct 21, 2019

AbstractThe eye does not rotate about a fixed center, but translates as it rotates horizontally in a rolling motion. Determination of oculorotary torques requires consideration of both tensions and lever arms of extraocular muscles, but lever arms could depend ...Oct 19, 2019

AbstractBackground: Transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) has been shown to modulate endogenous neural rhythms in a frequency-specific way. Our aim is to investigate whether tACS induced modulation of resting-state (RS) connectivity. To do so, tAC...Nov 7, 2018

AbstractObjective: Uncoupling protein (UCP) 2 is a proton carrier found in the inner mitochondrial membrane where it plays a role in regulating the membrane potential. UCP2 is expressed in neurons in various brain areas and plays a role in functions from lipid/...Nov 15, 2016

AbstractTraditionally, sensorimotor adaptation was believed to be solely driven by an implicit learning process, characterized by a slow, automated reduction in sensory prediction errors. However, recent behavioral evidence suggests that explicit cognitive stra...Nov 14, 2017

AbstractIntroduction: Physical exercise and activity have been shown to improve cognitive and brain health. However, majority of such studies have focused on older adults and less is known about how physical activity affects the adolescent brain. In the current...Nov 11, 2017

AbstractIt is controversial about the human somatotopic representation of orofacial areas, especially of the teeth. In addition, some studies of the postcentral somatosensory cortices of the non-human primates support a hierarchical scheme for information processing: the receptive field size and complexity increase with caudal progression. But there are few studies about hierarchical scheme in the orofacial area of the human. To verify human somatosensory orofacial representation including teeth and to show a hierarchal structure of this area, we conducted functional MRI. Tactile stimuli were applied to the forehead, lower lip, chin, tongue, and teeth. Our expectation was that the separated somatotopic representation in the rostral portion of the postcentral gyrus (PoCG) will be merging with caudal progression. Hence we compared the activated foci in the rostral PoCG nearby the central sulcus and those in the caudal portion nearby the postcentral sulcus. The foci activated by each stimulus were characterized by me...Oct 26, 2004

AbstractPeople often try to be objective by distancing themselves from their own position when making decisions in a social context (especially about “how” to carry on the decision). They also try to construe the intention of others by thinking from their persp...Nov 7, 2018

AbstractOne challenge in merging multicenter neuroimaging data is to derive standardized data features that best signify each center’s performance in spite of the inevitable variation in acquisition due to scanners or adopted procedures. In the current work, we...Oct 23, 2019

AbstractSerum albumin treatment reduces stroke volume in adult rodent models and this neuroprotective effect has been attributed to hemodilution. Additional suggested mechanisms include reducing antioxidant activity, improving tissue perfusion, decreasing brain...Nov 7, 2007
