SfN's Government and Public Affairs activities give neuroscientists a unified voice on legislative and regulatory issues in Washington, DC. SfN encourages members to visit Capitol Hill or local District offices to discuss issues important to the science community.

Feb. 28 - SfN issues February Advocacy Network Newsletter.
Feb. 1 - President releases his proposed FY 2011 budget, which includes $32.1 billion for NIH ($1 billion, 3.2 percent increase) and $7.4 billion for NSF ($550 million, 8 percent increase). SfN, along with Research!America and the Ad Hoc Group for Medical Research, supports $35 billion for NIH in FY2011 to maintain the scientific and economic momentum generated by the Recovery Act.
January 22- SfN launches "In the Lab: Recovery Act Stories", which share promising science funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). SfN also released the "Recovery Act: NIH Neuroscience Research" (PDF) fact sheet, a snapshot of NIH-funded neuroscience research made possible by ARRA funds.
January 19- SfN member Marina Picciotto led Representative Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) on a tour of the Department of Psychiatry and the Connecticut Mental Health Center at Yale University. Read more about the tour.
January 13 - "Responding to FOIA Requests: Facts and Resources,” (PDF) a best practices guide for understanding and responding to U.S. Freedom of Information Act (fiat) requests, was released by the National Association for Biomedical Research (NABR) in collaboration with SfN and the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB).
