Members of the International Brain Research Organization, IBRO, will outline needs of neuroscience in the developing world. They will ask if current international programs for assistance of neuroscience education and research are effective. The speakers will consider what comprises a useful model for an international Union of scientists to successfully encourage and sustain the development of scientific research in disadvantaged world regions. The symposium will allow the SFN/IBRO membership and invited members of Governments and funding agencies to think together as to how international programs can be made more effective in terms of helping disadvantaged regions develop their own neuroscience communities. The 4 speakers will present different aspects of international programs and leaders of IBRO's world Regional Committees will form a panel for discussion of questions raised by the speakers and audience.
