Scientists/professionals from various age/rank concerned with human mentality/behaviors, and its creativity/products/outputs, are seriously challenged by a major responsibility in their respective communities. Today’s neuroscientist is committed to payback his/her community by awaking brain consciousness, and developing brain literacy/brain health promotion targeting the public in the largest spectrum from preschool children to the interested/perceptive aged persons. To serve/materialize this vision, Neuroscience Society of Turkey (NST) since 1998, and the Turkey Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience (TC-SFN) since 2003, have begun observing BAW annually in various cities/institutions in Turkey following the pioneers’ (SFN,DANA,EDAB) leadership. The objectives/expected added values of BAW in Turkey were in compliance with those of the above, with addition of some national/local community needs/expectations. The aim of our poster is to present a bird’s eye view of the multi-disciplinary/-professional/-institutional BAW endeavors/activities accomplished in Turkey since 1998; motivate/encourage/guide the neuroscientists/future neuroscientists in adoption of this responsibility/commitment to the community; and benefit from the constructive criticism/the novel, original/creative opinion/suggestions of our peer international BAW activists & spectators.
Supported by Neurosci. Soc. of Turkey, Turkey Chapter of SFN, Ege University Center for Brain Research, Osmangazi, Pamukkale, C. Bayar, and the Louisiana State Universities, DANA, EDAB
