Dear friends, As we approach the tenth anniversary of eNeuro at the close of 2024, it strikes me that 10-year-olds are known for their boundless energy and insatiable curiosity. Much like a child at this pivotal age, eNeuro is far from settling down. Instead, we are just gearing up for the lively and exciting journey ahead. Remember when you were ten? Too old to be considered little, but too young to be taken too seriously. Ten-year-olds are notorious for their enthusiasm, their sudden spurts of growth, and their remarkable ability to never sit still. Likewise, eNeuro is buzzing with energy and a refusal to …Mar 1, 2024

Scientific progress often hinges on the courage to question conventional models and embrace exploratory research. This commentary examines the importance of curiosity-driven science by drawing on historical and contemporary examples, from Darwin's unconventional research methodologies to modern neuroscience investigations that challenge the constraints of traditional laboratory environments. An over-reliance on predictable, controlled conditions—particularly in select rodent models—has potentially limited the translational impact of neuroscience. By exploring novel research paradigms, including raccoon neural investigations and rodent-driven vehicles (ROVs), the value of expanding research models to incorporate diverse species and environments is examined. As neuroscience advances, the field must move beyond the metaphorical lamp post, venturing into uncharted territory to fully capture the complexity of neurobiological variables. By fostering a culture of discovery over predictability—supported by innovat...Apr 1, 2025

An effective oral presentation engages the audience and uses slides to give a clear and concise overview of research material. Panel presentations (symposia, minisymposia, clinical roundtables, and nanosymposia) as a whole should not be disjointed but should draw together several ideas from multiple researchers that relate to a centralized topical interest. Lectures should be summaries or overviews of work in a field, not research seminars. Clearly-stated learning objectives should be presented at the start of the lecture to convey anticipated learning outcomes to an audience with a wide range of backgrounds.
