SfN is a proud sponsor of the Science Olympiad. Many individual SfN members volunteer.
For more than 25 years, primary and secondary schools across the United States have participated in the Science Olympiad, a series of competitive events challenging students to excel in the sciences. Starting at the regional level, the Olympiad culminates in an annual national tournament where more than 5,000 students compete in 46 events.
From making fake wounds to building a rubber motor-powered monoplane, the Science Olympiad offers unconventional educational opportunities that mimic real-world scientific settings.
SfN sponsors a trip for the winning anatomy and physiology team to attend the SfN annual meeting each year.
It is easy to get involved as a coach for an Olympiad team or assist as a team adviser. SfN chapters can also support a local team. Visit the Science Olympiad website for more details.
