Neuroinformatics Committee

News/ Announcements

In an effort to facilitate awareness of Neuroinformatics resources and to promote data sharing, the Neuroinformatics Committee encourages you to check out the newest release of the Neuroscience Information Framework (NIF). With the release of NIF 1.5, you will find that we have significantly upgraded the content, functionality and look and feel of the NIF. Visit the NIF Web site to use the new release and for more information. We look forward to feedback from the community.

NIF offers both a simple search interface and an advanced interface to search across multiple information sources.  We conduct regular Webinars on NIF and its features. The Webinars schedule is posted on the NIF home page. We have also provided tutorials familiarizing users with the new release:

Here are a few features to try in the new NIF release:

  • Perform searches and refine them. You can now use the "expand" button to add terms to your search by selecting them from the expanded list.
  • Use the NIF Firefox search plug-in to search the NIF directly from your Firefox browser.
  • Check out our new database results page.
  • View NIF vocabularies underlying the NIF system at the Neurolex Wiki.

The NIF project is designed to serve the biomedical research community. The more participation from the community, the better the NIF. We welcome all feedback and suggestions and are actively looking for resource providers to make their resources accessible through the NIF.
