Background
The Young Investigator Award recognizes outstanding achievements by a young neuroscientist who has recently received his or her advanced professional degree.  The award, which includes $15,000, is presented each year at the Society's annual meeting.

Eligibility 

  • Nominees must be active in research at the time the award is given.
  • Nominees must have received a PhD or MD (or equivalent) within the past 10 years.

Nomination Criteria

  • Nominations must be made or endorsed by an SfN member. 
  • Nominee does not have to be an SfN member.
  • Self nomination is not permitted.
  • No person may nominate more than one candidate.

Nomination Materials
Please upload the following nomination materials to the new SfN awards submission site (note: all materials must be submitted by the nominator):

  • One nomination letter
  • A maximum of two optional letters of recommendation
    • One letter must be from the nominee's current or previous mentor
  • Current CV
  • The date on which the advanced degree must be provided
  • A list of up to five of the nominee's most important published papers
