Unique Program Features
UAB is home the NINDS R25 funded program: UAB Neuroscience Roadmap Scholars Program. This program works to enhance the training and promote the retention the underrepresented neuroscience graduate trainee in the neuroscience workforce. The specific “value added” components of the Neuroscience Roadmap Scholars Program include the annual southeast regional NEURAL (National Enhancement of UnderRepresented Academic Leaders) summer conference, interactions with Career Coaches (separate from the scholar’s Research mentor), Peer-to peer mentoring and undergraduate mentees, and distinct extracurricular activities.
New UAB neuroscience students are invited to the Sea Lab for a unique introductory course. The Sea Lab is located on Dauphin Island, a barrier island surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico, the Mississippi Sound and the Mobile Bay. A truly unique experience awaits all those in the pursuit of knowledge!
The UAB Comprehensive Neuroscience Center connects over 400 UAB neuroscience professionals (trainees, faculty &amp; staff) with collaborative pilot funding, symposia, retreats, publications, outreach and professional development opportunities.
