Feb. 1 - President releases his proposed FY 2011 budget, which provides $32.1 billion for NIH ($1 billion, 3.2 percent increase) and $7.4 billion for NSF ($550 million, 8 percent increase). SfN, along with Research!America and the Ad Hoc Group for Medical Research, supports $35 billion for NIH in FY2011 to maintain the scientific and economic momentum generated by the Recovery Act. The budget also provides $7.4 billion for the National Science Foundation, a $550 million (8 percent) increase above last year. January 26 - SfN issues January Advocacy Network Newsletter. January 22- SfN launches "In the Lab: Recovery Act Stories", which share promising science funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). SfN also released the "Recovery Act: NIH Neuroscience Research" (PDF) fact sheet, a snapshot of NIH-funded neuroscience research made possible by ARRA funds. January 19- SfN member Marina Picciotto led Representative Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) on a tour of the Department of Psychiatry and the Connecticut Mental Health Center at Yale University.
