About The Journal
The Journal of Neuroscience is the official journal of the Society for Neuroscience and is published weekly. The Journal publishes papers on a broad range of topics of general interest to those working on the nervous system.
The Journal publishes neuroscience research in four sections:
- Behavior/Systems/Cognitive
- Cellular/Molecular
- Development/Plasticity/Repair
- Neurobiology of Disease
The Journal of Neuroscience is published weekly, 12 months a year.

Embargo Information
The Journal of Neuroscience is published each Wednesday. Articles appearing in The Journal are embargoed for release until 5 p.m. U.S. Eastern time the Tuesday preceding publication. This policy is comprehensive and includes reporters, authors, and institutional public information officers.
Interviews are permissible prior to the embargo lift. Authors are permitted to share manuscripts with reporters and should be cognizant of the embargo.

Society publications about the brain
The Society publishes several publications to educate the public about neuroscience basics and the impact of science research:
- Brain Briefings - Monthly two-page newsletters explaining how basic neuroscience discoveries lead to clinical applications, available by subscription or download.
- Brain Research Success Stories - An occasional series designed to tell elected officials and the public about the recent successes and future potential of neuroscience. They explain how neurological and psychiatric disorders can be overcome only through continued increases in federal biomedical funding.
- Brain Facts - A 74-page primer on the brain and nervous system, available for download.
- Research & Discoveries - A series that chronicles examples of curiosity-driven research advances that are creating promise for the treatment of neurological and psychiatric disorders.
Society for Neuroscience Annual Meeting
SfN's annual meeting is the premier venue for neuroscientists from around the world to debut cutting-edge research. Since 1971, the meeting has offered attendees the opportunity to learn about the latest neuroscience breakthroughs and network with colleagues at top destinations throughout North America.
