Committee Initiatives
The activities of this committee target four audiences: scientists, K-12 educators, media and the general public. Activities include:

  • Conducting a series of press conferences at the SfN annual meeting showcasing emerging neuroscience discoveries to science and health reporters. 
  • Hosting the Brain Awarenes Campaign in collaboration with the Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives to improve public knowledge about the brain and progress of research.
  • Collaborating with other organizations to reach science teachers and encourage an increased focus on neuroscience education.
  • Highlights studies from The Journal of Neuroscience to science and health reporters throughout the year.
  • Creating and distributing publications targeting a lay audience, including Brain Facts and Brain Briefings.
  • Coordinating SfN activities at national science teacher conferences through exhibits and workshops.
