Committee Initiatives

Travel and Achievement Awards - These awards support and recognize neuroscientists and their achievements.
Neuroscience Scholars Program - A three-year fellowship for minority students in neuroscience.
Mentoring - The PDC mentoring program, centered around the annual meeting, pairs experienced professionals with students and young professionals.
A Celebration of Women in Neuroscience Luncheon - A luncheon at SfN's annual meeting featuring a notable woman neuroscientist guest speaker.
Diversity Events at the Annual Meeting - Events to support and recognize neuroscientists from diverse backgrounds.
Professional Development Workshops at the Annual Meeting - A variety of workshops for neuroscientists at all career stages.

The Professional Development Committee (PDC) was created in response to expressed member needs. The PDC embraces the missions, activities and members of the former Committee on Women in Neuroscience (C-WIN) and Committee on Diversity in Neuroscience (C-DIN). SfN is committed to supporting, building upon, and leveraging the many successes of C-WIN and C-DIN to better serve the professional development needs of all its members, as reflected in the revised professional development strategy approved by SfN Council. The PDC is responsible for implementing an expanded strategy designed to enhance career development opportunities for all neuroscientists through all career stages.
