SfN Reaches New Membership Record in 2008
The 2008 membership total of 38,761 represents a 0.22 percent increase over the 2007 membership total (38,677) and a 5.75 increase over the 2006 membership total (36,653), demonstrating the continued vitality of the field.

Renew by December 31 To Be First in Line for Neuroscience 2009
Renew your SfN membership by December 31 and become eligible to register and secure housing for Neuroscience 2009 one full day before the start of advance member registration. Registration and housing for members in good standing will continue to open one week prior to nonmember registration. If you are a nonmember apply for new membership today.

Neuroscience 2008
Neuroscience 2008 drew more than 31,000 attendees from around the world. The Society's 38th annual meeting, held in Washington, DC from November 15-19, provided a forum for researchers and scientists to exchange information, learn, and network. Neuroscience 2009 Proposals Due Jan. 14
Plan ahead for Neuroscience 2009, scheduled for October 17 -21 in Chicago, Ill. SfN is now accepting symposia and minisymposia and SIR proposals for Neuroscience 2009. Deadline is Jan. 14, 2009.

Now Accepting Nominations for Committee Members
The SfN Nominating Committee encourages all members to submit nominations for 2009 committee replacements. View a list of committees, charters, and current rosters. To improve representation within SfN's leadership and governance bodies, please consider nominating from broader, diverse sections of the SfN membership. All nominations are due by Jan. 15, 2009. Submit committee nominations.

Neuroscience Core Concepts: Available Online
SfN's new publication featuring fundamental principles about the brain and nervous system, Neuroscience Core Concepts, is now online. The eight concepts are presented in lay language and offer a practical resource to teach about the brain. Also visit the Neuroscience Education Resources Virtual Encycloportal (NERVE), an online gateway to a wide range of K-12 education resources. View more neuroscience education resources.

Post Election Resources: Science Impact, Science Advocacy
Use these tools and resources to understand the election’s impact on science and health: Learn about President-Elect Barack Obama’s science positions (PDF). Visit CBS news to identify your new or returning members of Congress. See their views on science and health at Your Candidates-Your Health, a voter education initiative sponsored by Research!America and SfN. To advocate for science in the new Congress and Administration, join the SfN Advocacy Network. And don’t miss the Public Advocacy Forum for a post-election panel discussion at Neuroscience 2008.
